Alka Malik -Managing Director Ascentria-Pace

We were super lucky to catch up with Alka Malik, founder Ascentria-PACE, and discuss her rollercoaster journey setting up and successfully growing her education business. I’m compelled to share her professional background; and my word, it is nothing short of remarkable.

Here goes, Alka Malik is a qualified accountant and an associate member of the Institutes of Management Accountants, USA, Certified Management Accountants, Australia, and Cost Accountants of India & a Certified Valuation Analyst from the IACVA, Canada, with over fifteen years of finance experience.

She left employment at the Associate Director level at KPMG in their Transactions and Restructuring vertical in order to establish this venture in 2013. Prior to joining KPMG, she was heading the UAE Management Consulting Division of PKF, a top-ten global accounting firm.

Describe your business tweet style (280 characters or less)?

Professional to its core with an unwavering focus on the betterment of the students. Totally hand-on, yet allowing each individual flexibility within their roles.

What according to you, separates you from your competitors?

The focus on ethically running the establishment as a seat of learning rather than a business for profit.

How do you foresee for the next 10 years in your business?

Several changes in formats, mediums and requirements of exams, but necessity of quality educational support will never cease. Adaptability to change while maintaining superior offerings is a must.

Advice you'd like to give to a first-time business founder, someone just starting out? Or what would you have wished to have known before starting your business?

Start something what you can do completely without any reliance on any other individual, and remain debt free.
